“Stay With Me” Mini-Episode Recaps
Episode 1
At dinner, Wu Zheng Hao (Gao Zi Qi) tells Xiao San (Zhu Zi Yan) to transfer her son over to Wu Bi’s (Xu Bin) high school. Upset by the news, Wu Bi decides to ask his aunt to help him transfer to Beijing Riyue Weiming Senior High School to investigate his stepmother’s son.
Upon arriving at Beijing Riyue Weiming Senior High School, Wu Bi gets placed in Su Yu’s (Zhang Jiong Min) classroom. Without any context, Wu Bi plays tricks on Su Yu.
Episode 2
Knowing that most of the children at the high school had bought new uniforms, Su Zhi Gang (Yang Shuo), felt bad that he can’t provide a new uniform for Su Yu.
Overhearing that Su Yu had received new shoes, Wu Bi tried to dirty the shoes that Su Yu had received from Aunt Zhou. However, his attempts were futile with the calm and smart Su Yu, who wouldn’t react to his antics.
Back at home, Wu Bi got into an argument with his father and decided to leave home. He called for moving help, and it turned out to be Su Zhi Gang who was trying to earn money to buy Su Yu a new uniform. Seeing that Su Zhi Gang was struggling, Wu Bi struck up a conversation, and the two got to know each other. Feeling connected to Su Zhi Gang, Wu Bi asked him to come back and help unpack the boxes the following day. Wu Bi and Su Zhi Gang continued to build their connection as they talked about their feelings and struggles within their respective families.
Episode 3
Wu Bi finds out that Su Zhi Gang’s son is Su Yu and realizes through his talk with Su Zhi Gang that he has misunderstood Su Yu. Wu Bi silently tries to make it up to Su Yu by purposely spilling hot chili sauce on him, so that he can buy Su Yu a new uniform.
Seeing street gangsters trying to harass Su Yu for money, Wu Bi steps in to help and walks Su Yu home. Wu Bi meets Su Zhi Gang at the door of the Su family, and Su Zhi Gang lies to Su Yu that Wu Bi is the son of an old acquaintance. Staying over for dinner, Wu Bi feels the warmth of a family.
The following day, Wu Bi wakes up early to walk Su Yu to school where the bullies are waiting for him. However, upon seeing Wu Bi with Su Yu, they decide to turn away. Knowing that Wu Bi knows martial arts, Su Yu asks Wu Bi to teach him some moves.
Episode 4
The three gangsters gather more people to try to attack Wu Bi, but he runs away and loses them among the gate where the elementary school kids gather with their parents. Coincidentally, Li Duo (Sun Yi Chen) attends this elementary school and recognizes him, so she calls out to him. Li Duo asks Wu Bi to take her home since Su Zhi Gang would pick her up on random schedules. Su Yu reaches home, worried about Wu Bi, while Su Zhi Gang returns in a frenzy, looking for Li Duo. At the same time, Li Duo returns with Wu Bi.
To solve the issue with the gangsters, Wu Bi calls Uncle Li to get him bodyguards who can protect them from the gangsters. When seeing the group of bodyguards, Wu Bi suggested to Su Yu that the school probably funded the bodyguards to keep the students safe.
Wu Bi meets two of his friends from his previous school but leaves in a bad mood after hearing them complain about how much their mothers coddle them. He stops by Aunt Zhou’s stall, eats a bowl of noodles, and then brings Li Duo back to the Su family home. Wu Bi and Su Yu sit on the rooftop as Wu Bi tells Su Yu about how he has yet to accept the reality of his mother’s death.
